Gijonomía / Xixonomía is a way of being, living and feeling Gijón/Xixón.
It is a passion… an obsession. It is the compendium of what we and our city are.

The Treatise on Gijonomics includes a series of fundamental principles that describe the way Gijón people feel, do and live, and which are key to understanding our character and habits.

In its elaboration we have borrowed some ideas from minds and schools of science and philosophy, resulting in a total of 9 principles that describe us:

1stPrinciple (Archimedes): “Every body immersed in a fluid experiences a surge you can’t see”.

2ndprinciple (Thermodynamics): “Energy is neither created nor destroyed, it is shared”.

3rdprinciple (Ohm’s Law): “The current intensity is directly proportional to the resistance value”.

4thprinciple (Euclid): “The shortest distance between two points is the least important”.

5thprinciple (Carnegie): “The secret of your success is to surround yourself with Gijón/Xixón”.

6thPrinciple (Newton): “Every body shall remain at rest, except by force majeure”.

7thprinciple (Thales of Miletus): “Water is the beginning of everything, isn’t it?”

8thPrinciple (Geometry): “The area of a cachopo is equal to base times height. Divided by two”.

9thprinciple (Protagoras): “Grandona is the measure of all things”.

"Every body immersed in a fluid experiences a rush that you can't see."

"The current intensity is directly proportional to the value of the resistance."

"Every body shall remain at rest except by force majeure."

"Water is the beginning of everything - or is it?"

"The area of a cachopo is equal to base times height, divided by two."
